ORCHESTRA

The Bristol Classical Players were formed in 2008 to perform the nine Beethoven symphonies to a high standard. Since then, our concerts have covered a range of repertoire and we have worked with several international soloists, notably Stephen Hough and former BBC Young Musicians of the Year Nicola Benedetti and Jennifer Pike. We were delighted when, in 2014, Stephen agreed to become our Patron.

The orchestra normally numbers around fifty players and we give four concerts every year at the best venues in Bristol and Cheltenham including the Pittville Pump Room, Bristol Cathedral and our home venue, St George’s Bristol.

Following the success of our tenth anniversary concert at Bristol Cathedral in 2019, when we played Mahler’s ‘Resurrection’ Symphony with Bristol Cabot Choir and Bristol Phoenix Choir, we will be joining forces once a year to perform a great work for choir and orchestra - Beethoven’s 9th Symphony in 2020 and Verdi’s Requiem in 2021.
